Hi, I am Malika Risley and I am the owner and operator of Riverview Tutor.
I graduated from the University of South Florida in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. I am an active process engineer with over 10 years of experience in a manufacturing and consulting industry.
I took five years away from work in order to homeschool my kids. At the time they were 10 and 8. I began tutoring math and science in 2017, and that’s how Riverview Tutor was born.
I am passionate about helping students succeed in their studies. I know that math is one of the toughest subjects to conquer and a lot of students struggle with it. Through the years of tutoring, I developed my own tutoring technique because I have a good understanding of how math concepts form and relate to one another. It is very real that in one session, we can accomplish as much as 2 months of what your student wasn’t able to learn in school.
Here are some other random facts about myself:
- I grew up in the Soviet Union and moved to the US when I was 15. I love cold weather (ironically I live in Florida).
- My family and I enjoy traveling – and we travel somewhat regularly in our motorhome.
- I am 3 classes short of completing my Master of Civil Engineering degree.
